How To Take a Screen Shot

screenshot Sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words. It is easier to show someone how something is done with a screen shot, rather than describing it. You can take a screen shot of your entire monitor, or just an active window.
There is also print screen software that will let you easily take screen shots of any part of your screen. See the link at the bottom, or take a look in the Tools Section

How to do a screen shot of the entire screen?

Press - Windows will capture the entire screen or (or screens if you have multiple monitors) and copies it to the clipboard.

Locating the Print Screen button:

Look for this group of keys in the upper right of your keyboard. Note: you may have to press the Function Lock key (F Lock or Fn) on some multimedia and laptop keyboards for the key to function as PrtScn

How to do a screen shot from a single window:

Hold alt_right and press print_screen Windows will save the currently active window to the clipboard

Now you have the image saved on the clipboard. Go to what ever program you use for editing your images and past the image:

Hold control and press v Windows will past your screen shot into what ever document or image you are currently editing.

*Tips

  • I find the GIF and PNG format is better when saving screen shots of program windows.  JPEG is better with pictures, if you screen shot has text in it, it may appear blurry.
