This is an important step, we do not want google or any other search engine indexing any pages, until we are ready for them.

A) Turn on Privacy:

In the WordPress Administration:

  1. Click on “Privacy” under the “Settings” Section
  2. Change the option from allowing search engines to “

B) Install the “Members Only” Plugin:

Under the “Plugins” Section:, click on “Add New”

  1. In the Search Box, Search for “Members Only”
  2. Click on the “Install” link on the right hand side
  3. Click on “Activate Now” After it has been downloaded
  4. In the “Settings” Section, click on the “Members Only” configuration link
  5. Check the first Box “Members Only?” to only allow logged in visitors to view the blog
  6. The only other option that needs to be changed is the Login Redirect: Change this from “Dashboard” to “Front Page”

All Done!

This allows us to work on the site, and view the full site by login in, without the public or search engines being able to see anything.

When the site is ready, we simply Remove the “Members Only” plug in and reverse step “A)”
