Keyword Research
There are 2 steps in keyword research.
1) when you first find a market, or niche idea. Do a prelimiary research to see if it is feasible. If there is a market, with room to enter, then move on to the in depth research, and keyword list. If the opportunity is not there (low hanging fruit) then archive the idea, and move on.
2) After determining that there is indeed a market around this product or idea, Then start the detailed research into the market.
3) Before registering a domain, or ordering content, the keyword worksheet must be prepared.
Keyword Worksheet:
Pick 2 main keywords to focus on in the beginning. Both of these keywords will be Marketed on the front page of the site. It will take practice and experience to become good at this.
Choose the keywords based on the number of monthly searches, the strength of the competition, the number of competing sites also marketing these keywords. If you cannot get on the first page of google within 3 months, forget it. and move on.
Sort the rest of the keywords by buying cycle first, then SOC, then monthly searches. Learn to week out the week keywords even if they are very easy to dominate. It is much better to have a lower number of traffic, with a higher converting keyword, than it is to have a large number of traffic, that is low not non-converting.
